This means it's both tasty and filling - is it as good as a real chocolate bar? Of course not, but the difference between the chocolate bar and the protein shake is tiny compared to the difference between the salad and the chocolate bar.
Moreover they're far less likely to break their diet and go back to their old ways, and from here you can gradually implement more and more slight alterations. It's the little changes that create the big changes, and you go from the near-impossible to the realistic when you make these types of decisions.
