Common nutrition/weight-loss myths

Many different people have many different theories when it comes to weight-loss and nutrition. There are so many different opinions in fact that it simply can not be possible for all theories to work. Here are some common theories that are widely accepted as the "truth" by many people who fall into the losing weight through dieting trap of the mass media:

1. Eat less to lose more - This is just NOT true. Because of this outrageous myth, people are starving themselves and ignoring their inner yearning for proper nutrition and some of these people then "binge eat" because they are so hungry from their bout of starvation. Not only do these people lose muscle mass (wastage of muscle results in immediate weight loss and decrease in metabolic rate) but they immediately store all of their "binge" foods as fat. Not the formula to success.

2. Eat just one type of food - The human body needs some sort of variety for healthy function. There are literally hundreds of vitamins and minerals that the body requires just to avoid disease. These are essential for losing weight and are unfortunately ignored by many people in their latest "diet-craze" attempt to burn fat.

3. Eat lots of small meals - This has some truth to it actually! Although eating more small meals throughout the day will not burn fat on its own, this strategy, when combined with others, is an effective way to fulfill the body's energy requirements without causing an insulin spike which results in immediate fat storage throughout the body.

What is the secret to weight loss and nutrition?

There is only one philosophy I go by which has seen countless clients of mine achieve great results and that is:

Eat foods as close to their raw source as possible, often enough that you are never "starving" but never "bloating". Also make sure you follow your daily caloric needs for maximum results
