With much of the world reaching epidemic levels of obesity,
weight loss is something that you hear about everyday. Between
magazines, television, and every other information source out there, we
are being bombarded with "miracle breakthroughs".
The fact is that it takes work to lose weight. The misunderstanding that a lot of people have, however, is that it can not be fun.
If you want to be successful in your goal to lose weight, making it fun will make it exponentially easier. But how do you lose weight and have fun?
There are many ways to enjoy your weight loss mission.
#1 - Find someone to share the adventure with. If your spouse, a friend, or a family member, have the same goal as you do, work together on it. This not only will make working out more enjoyable, but you can support each other with your diet and motivation.
#2 - Find an activity that you really enjoy. If the thought of going to the gym and running on the treadmill for an hour a day sounds boring to you (as it should), simply don't do it. There are so many other ways to workout. Find a sports league. If you run, find multiple courses that you can run to keep things interesting.
#3 - Experiment with your cooking. Many people think that super restrictive diets are the only way to lose weight. This is not true. You need to make sure that you are providing your body with all of the essential nutrients that it needs. If you use white bread and pasta, stop! Start trying recipes with whole wheat products. If you drink soda, give it up. Try different juices. Get creative to make it enjoyable.
Make each night a different theme. If you just eat rice cakes and carrots everyday, you will be back to fried food in no time. Improve your diet, but don't make it something that you know will not last. In the end, it is not about being on a "diet". It is about having a healthy diet, as in your everyday eating, your lifestyle.
#4 - Set goals. Make both long-term and short-term goals. Stay focused on the goals. Make it a daily, weekly, monthly challenge to achieve the goals. Come up with a fun reward that you will give yourself when you achieve each goal. If you are working with a partner on this, make it a competition (while still supporting each other).

#5 - Get a workout program. The right program will be motivating,
challenging, and diverse, to make the experience both effective and
anjoyable. P90X [http://beachbodytrainer.com/p90x.html] is the best
program that I have come across, and I am in the Physical education
field. It gets results, and is actually fun. Tony does a great jon
